Hu: Because the main points have not been madevery clear.
Li:Is it very long?
Hu:No, not very long. It was divided into three parts.
Li: Was it typewritten or written by hand?
Hu:It was typewritten, not written by hand, because my handwriting is awful.

Hu:Yes, it was (typed by myself), but it wasn’t well done.
Li: May I have a look at it?

Li: Are the pages numbered?

About fifty or sixty years ago, there were few schools for infants. Young children worked in dark, unpleasant classrooms. They wore uniforms and they sat at uncomfortable desks. The children wanted to play, but their teachers work very strict, so the children had to sit quietly and learn numbers or the alphabet by heart.
Today, very young children usually have an enjoyable and useful time at school. They attend a kindergarten or play school and “play” at reading, writing, and counting, or they enjoy themselves working things, singing, drawing or painting. Their classrooms are attractive and pleasant and their teachers usually supervise them in a very kind and helpful way. So for most children these days are very happy days.
B.
It is interesting to visit a foreign country, but problems may arise when we don’t know the language well enough. It may be difficult to talk with the people there. We may not know how to use the telephone. We may not know how to buy the things we need.
In a strange country, we may not know where to eat or what to order in a restaurant. It is not easy to decide how much to tip waiters or taxi-drivers. When we need help, we may not know how to ask for help. It is not pleasant to have an experience like that. After a short time, however, we learn what to do and what to say. We learn to enjoy life in another country, and then we may not want to leave.

Script:
“How to” Books
Books which give instructions on how to do things are very popular in the United States today. Thousands of these “how to” books are available; in fact, there are about four thousand books with titles that begin with the words how to.
Many “how to” books give advice on careers. They tell you how to choose a career and how to succeed in it. Many of these books help people to use their free time better. Some people want books which will give them useful information about sports, hobbies, and travel. Other people use their free time to make repairs and improvements on their homes. They prefer books which give step-by-step instructions on how to repair things like plumbing and electrical wiring, or on how to redecorate or enlarge a house.
Why have “how to” books become so popular? Probably because life has become so complex. Today people have far more free time to use, more choices to make, and more problems to solve. “How to” books help people to deal with modern life.

For some college freshmen, the biggest stress comes from learning.
Until you experience college classes for yourself, no one can say how hard or easy they’ll be for you.
But one thing’s for sure: They won’t be anything like high school.
For freshmen, most classes take the form of lectures, meaning you listen while the professor talks. And as you listen, you’re supposed to be taking notes.
As you take notes, organize them in outline form by writing down major points and supporting details.
Note-taking keeps you involved in the class and makes the time go faster.
